What to say/not to say to someone who is grieving

What to say when you don’t know what to say!

People often say to me that they don’t know how to respond to someone who is grieving.
Not knowing what to say may mean that we stop listening and become so focused on what we are going to say next.

Therefore we are not listening to understand and are listening to respond

Here are some of the things that you should consider saying and not saying.
But the most important thing to remember is to say something!!

Saying nothing or ignoring the fact that someone has lost a special person in their life is deeply hurtful and painful. It is not so much what you say it, but how you say it and how you make the other person feel.
